Ch-ch-ch-CHIA!

I always wanted a chia pet when I was little. I happened to mention this to my mom and sister a few months ago during some random conversation. They saw some in the store not long after and decided to fulfill my childhood dream. How nice of them!
Ok. But can I just say how hard it is to actually grow those darn things like they do in the commercials? Perhaps it's because my kitchen is on the cold north side of the house or maybe I'm just not very good at growing things. But my chia pet just looked sad! I gave up last week.
My nieces came over to play one Saturday in March and so I had them help me seed the chia. I tracked its progress in hopes that I would have this glorious green little pet to show off. (sigh)
Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way.

And the seeding has begun...

Looking good...

Now we wait...

I was so excited to see these first sprouts!

Unfortunately, the only sprouts that chia Washington ever got were on the sides of his head and a few on his neck. He just looked like a sad, balding man.

I have some seeds left. I think maybe in a few months when the weather gets warmer I will try again!

The commercials are definitely misleading then... It's hilarious you have a bald Washington! Better luck next time...
