Food for Thought

It is better to trust and be disappointed once in awhile than to distrust and be miserable all of the time.

I'm not dead...I'm just busy!

I am so busy with work, housework, and taking care of Seth that I don't have a lot of free time to blog. All you out there who keep up on the blogging after having a kid are SUPER WOMEN! I get so behind! So rather than try to catch up, I'll just recap on a few things...

Clint turned 28 at the end of November. Sadly, that seems young to me since I am a year and a half older than him. But we had a nice day together. I made him breakfast and then we went to the movies and saw Harry Potter. Then later that night we had some friends over and we had pizza and cake and ice cream. I'm thinking he had a pretty nice day....he didn't complain to me about it, at least.

I went back to work part-time in August. It has been a challenge to balance things but I am finally getting the hang of it and am really enjoying my time at home with Seth and also being able to continue working in an industry that I really love. It also helps that I have two great babysitters who Seth seems to love!
Seth is growing so fast. It seems like just yesterday that he was so fragile and I was scared out of my mind over how to hold him, feed him, recognize his cries... He is 6 months old and crawling...that's right folks...he has been crawling for the last few weeks. He doesn't do the typical hands and knees crawl though. He just pulls himself across the floor. Seth has also cut his two bottom teeth. He actually handled that pretty well. Below are his 6 months check up stats:

Length: 25.7 inches 40th percentile
Weight: 16 lbs 11 oz 45th percentile
Melon: 42.4 cm 20th percentile
Here are some pictures...

We found the cutest little Dragon costume at Costco for Seth for Halloween. This is Clint and Seth with his Aunt Char and cousin Thayne. We went to Clint's dad's work for some fun "in-door" trick-or-treating. Seth collected the candy and Clint and I ate it.

I just happened to get a lucky shot of Seth one day. This is one of my favorite pictures of him!

We recently went to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. Thanks to my friend Jules, Clint and I had some hideous sweaters to wear. And I went to Carter's and found the ugliest sweater possible for Seth.

Seth is such an odd little sleeper. He has actually always slept really well at night. There have only been maybe 5 times that I can remember where he has woken up in the early morning hours. I'm definitely spoiled that way.

He now insists on sleeping on his tummy. I tried and tried to roll him back over so he would sleep on his back but he would normally wake up, look at me, and then roll right back onto his tummy. I gave up.

This is a classic picture of Seth. He definitely looks like he is in trouble for getting into something that he shouldn't be getting into. He seriously is on the move ALL day long and doesn't want toys at all. He likes wall outlets, TV cords, you know, the things that will kill him if I'm not watching him closely.

We started Seth on rice cereal at around 4 months. He hated it. But now that I mix applesauce and bananas with it he seems much happier. As you can see, he wants to feed himself.

And this is what happens when I let him feed himself. A BIG mess. Also, has anyone noticed that you can wipe your baby's face multiple times and STILL find baby food on him an hour later? That stuff is tricky to clean up!

And much to Clint's dismay, Seth seems so entertained by the piano. He just loves to sit on my lap and mess around. He's my little Beethoven in the making!

Here is a little video of Seth doing his army crawl. You will also notice that he has started to recognize his name when we call him.
