And Another House Project is Complete!

Nothing really exciting happens at our house. That is why I am forced to blog about each house project that we complete. After replacing the kitchen faucet, I started thinking that brushed nickel hardware on our cabinets would look pretty darn good.

So after much pleading and begging and assuring Clint that it would be so, so easy to do, he agreed to "get 'er done!"

Oops.

Turns out, putting hardware on cabinetry is not as easy as I thought. You have one shot at drilling a hole (and in the case of the handles I chose...two holes) the perfect distance apart so that the handle can be screwed in properly. It's not like you can just putty the accidental hole and start over! Plus, you have to make sure that the handle on one cabinet is perfectly even with the handle on the neighboring cabinet. So it took us a painful amount of time to measure and mark our cabinets.

And really, it wouldn't be one of OUR house projects if we didn't have to go back to Lowe's multiple times. Turns out, the screws that were included with the handles we bought were not long enough to go through our cabinets. We had to trudge back to Lowe's just before closing time to get longer screws for the cabinets. Then as we attempted to add these same handles to the drawers, we found that the second, longer screws that we had purchased were still not long enough for the drawers. Wow! So, back to Lowe's we went.

By this time, we had been drilling holes and adding hardware in the kitchen for 2 days. So we decided we should give it a rest for a few days before we attempted to add the handles to the drawers. But by the time we did get back to the drawers, we discovered...that's right...the even longer screws that we purchased on our 3rd trip to Lowe's were TOO long. So, back to Lowe's we went...AGAIN!

The fourth time is the charm in our case. But the project is done now! Yea!

Lesson learned: Adding handles to kitchen cabinets and drawers really isn't worth four trips to Lowe's.

Here's some pictures of the project to make this post worth reading:

It's the simple things...

Clint and I love Chick-Fil-A. Much to the dismay of my mother, we served it at our wedding reception. She said it was tacky. (However, I should point out that several people who attended our wedding chose to serve those same tasty chicken nuggets at their own wedding receptions later on...so not too tacky, Mom!)

About a year ago, Clint and I discovered that Chick-Fil-A made these great breakfast mini chicken sandwiches. The little buns are brushed with honey butter and they put a single chicken nugget in each bun. Doesn't really sound good...but they are AMAZING! We haven't been able to enjoy those "chicken minis" very often because the closest Chick-Fil-A is about a 20 minute drive from our house and we rarely make it there before they stop serving breakfast.

So imagine our excitement when we discovered that a Chick-Fil-A is going up at Jordan Landing...just 2 minutes away! Clint and I saw the restaurant, looked at each other, and yelled "BREAKFAST!" at the very same time. I love that we love the same things! And I love that something as simple as being able to get chicken minis more often made both of our days!
